Frequently Asked Questions
Getting Started
When you arrive, you'll be greeted by a coach who will walk you through the facility and answer any questions. You'll join a regular class where the instructor will pair you with an experienced training partner who will help you learn the basics. Classes typically include a warm-up, technique instruction, drilling, and optional live training. No sparring is required on your first day — you control your own pace.
For No-Gi Jiu-Jitsu, Wrestling, or Kickboxing: wear comfortable athletic clothing like a t-shirt or rash guard and shorts or athletic pants (no pockets, zippers, or buttons). For Gi Jiu-Jitsu: if you don't have a Gi, contact us ahead of time and we can lend you one for your first class. Always bring a water bottle and a towel.
Not at all. The majority of our students started with zero martial arts experience. Our classes are structured so beginners can learn alongside more advanced students in a supportive environment. Our coaches provide individual attention to make sure new students build a solid technical foundation from day one.
Training & Safety
Absolutely. Our kids program is designed with safety as the top priority. Classes are age-grouped (4–5, 6–8, and 9–14) so kids train with peers their own size. Our coaches are experienced with youth instruction and emphasize proper technique, controlled movements, and a supportive environment. Jiu-Jitsu actually teaches kids how to protect themselves and builds body awareness that reduces injury risk in all sports.
In Gi Jiu-Jitsu, you wear a traditional uniform (the Gi) which consists of a heavy jacket, pants, and belt. The Gi allows for grip-based techniques using the fabric — collar chokes, sleeve controls, and lapel guards. In No-Gi, you wear a rash guard and shorts, and train without the traditional uniform. No-Gi tends to be faster-paced and relies more on body-lock controls, underhooks, and wrestling-based positions. We offer both styles so you can develop a well-rounded game.
